Shadowy Images

First rehearsal last night. After the initial confusion engendered by my having provided a revised script which some got and others did not, I tossed another half-dozen alterations at them I had composed an hour earlier at Civilization in Tremont. I love fucking with this script.

The play takes place in 2009. Will the diaspora of '05 lead to the widespread discovery of chickory?

Movies of Notes
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920)
A major inspiration for the BIG BOX production. One of the great expressionaistic films of all-time. To be seen to be believed. And you will discover where the modern "Goth" look originated - Conrad Veidt is the model for Peter Murphy, Robert Smith and everyone else.

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (2006)
What's this? What's this!

Gothic (1986)
"Look into my eyes." Ken Russell's kinky take on the summer of 1816. Timothy Spall plays a truly disturbing Doctor. "Part leech ... part penis ..."

Haunted Summer (1988)
Like Gothic, only prettier. Eric Stoltz as Shelley and the other guy from the Bill & Ted's Adventure flicks as Polidori.

More to come ...

Last night sent me to investigate my bloated bookshelf. I found all kinds of goodies, including my old Vampire- the Masquarade guide book- a must have for all geeky gothies of the 90's. Interesting for how it breaks the vampire genre into archetypes and characterizations.
Also on the movie front we can't forget "The Hunger" so 80's goth right there and fantastic as well.

Endlessly excited about this project!
